Six people fatally shot in 3 unrelated Dallas incidents

Six people died after three unrelated shootings early Sunday in Dallas, police said.
The toll included a teenager killed in Deep Ellum, a man and woman found dead in their southeast Dallas home in an apparent murder-suicide, and three people shot in the Rylie area of southeast Dallas.

All of the shootings happened within four hours, police said.
In Deep Ellum, police said Trevon Brown, 17, of Dallas, was shot shortly after 1 a.m. at Quixotic World, an event space in the 2800 block of Main Street between Crowdus Street and Malcolm X Boulevard.
Brown, who was shot in the chest, was taken to Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas in critical condition and died less than an hour later.
Police said four people were detained near the scene of the shooting. Police have not made any arrests.
Just before 2 a.m., police responding to shots fired in southeast Dallas discovered an apparent murder-suicide.
Patricia Tinajero, 33, had multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body, police said.
The man she had been dating had a single gunshot wound to the head, police said. His name was not released pending notification of his family.
The couple was found in their rental home in the 7400 block of Hillstar Circle, in a neighborhood of ranch houses and apartment complexes near the Great Trinity Forest.
On Sunday afternoon, the home showed no sign of disturbance. Blinds on the front windows were drawn. Letters and bills stuffed the mailbox. A car remained in the carport.
On the lawn, a “For Lease” sign had been posted.
Neighbors said the couple moved into the house in late November or early December.
Gregory Smith, who lives next door, said he’d seen children there, but didn’t know if they were the couple’s children or nieces and nephews.
He said he was surprised to see the “For Lease” sign appear in the front yard about two weeks after the family moved in. Most renters have stayed in the home for years, he said.
“Something was crazy,” he said. “I was going to ask about it.”
On Sunday, Smith awoke to the flashing lights of police cars and ambulances outside his bedroom window. Smith said he’d never heard any yelling or arguing at the house, including the hours before the shooting.
“I didn’t hear arguing or shots, nothing,” he said. “And I’m not a heavy sleeper.”
Smith, who has lived on the block for 22 years, was saddened to hear the shooting may have been caused by domestic violence. “In the news, it seems like you hear something like that once a week,” he said.
Another neighbor, Alfred Johnson, said he saw the deaths as another sign of a neighborhood in decline. He and his wife moved into their home in 1972, a time when he says most residents kept up their yards and didn’t litter in the nearby streets or city park.
Johnson said he “knew it was something bad” on Sunday morning when he saw a crime scene car.
“It’s sad,” he said. “I’ve lived here almost 40 years and the neighborhood is going to the dogs.”
Less than three hours after police responded to the couple’s death, four people were found shot — three fatally — just after 4:30 a.m. in Rylie.
Police dispatched to a shooting call in the 2000 block of Ben Hur Street near C.F. Hawn Freeway found four people with gunshot wounds.
Two were pronounced dead at the scene and another died at the hospital, according to police. A fourth victim had surgery Sunday morning.
Authorities identified two of the victims who died as Jose Alfredo Lopez, 21, and Deborah Lou Stanley, 57. The third was not identified.
Police said no suspects have been identified.(Dallas morning News)

Police: Girl, 7, Survives Ky. Plane Crash; Police ID 4 Dead

A 7-year-old girl survived a plane crash in Kentucky that killed four people Friday night, and the disoriented little girl walked away from the wreckage and reported the crash to a local resident, authorities said. The small Piper PA-34 reported engine trouble and lost contact with air traffic controllers as it was flying over the southwestern part of Kentucky about 5:55 p.m. CST, the FAA said. About a half hour later, a Lyon County resident called 911 and told dispatchers that a 7-year-old girl had walked to his home and said she had been involved in a plane crash, said Sgt. Dean Patterson of the Kentucky State Police. "This girl came out of the wreckage herself and found the closest residence and reported the plane crash," Patterson said. "It's a miracle in a sense that she survived it, but it's tragic that four others didn't." The girl was in emotional distress and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Patterson said. At th...
