A 13-year-old boy was behind the wheel of a stolen car that police chased from Dallas to Garland and back before it crashed on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge early Friday.
The bridge was closed overnight after the driver and two older teens suspected in a carjacking in Pleasant Grove were taken into custody.
Police said the three boys were involved in a carjacking around 2:45 a.m. Friday near Buckner Boulevard and Bruton Road. Officers briefly chased the suspects but stopped following because of their speed, police said.
The person whose car was stolen was uninjured.
Dallas police tracked the vehicle to Garland and notified police there. Garland police officers then tried to pull over the vehicle but the teens fled. Garland police officers chased the vehicle back to Dallas. A Dallas police helicopter monitored the chase.
The car crashed around 3:30 a.m. on the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. The 13-year-old driver and the two other teens, 15 and 17, were transported to the hospital. They are all expected to survive.
Officers recovered a plastic gun from the vehicle, police said. A Dallas police officer was on the bridge around 7:20 a.m. looking for something the teens might have thrown out of the car. He found a broken cell phone but said he didn’t know if it was related to the crash.
All three teens will face an aggravated robbery charge. The 13-year-old driver will also face an evading arrest charge from Dallas police. dallas news

Police: Girl, 7, Survives Ky. Plane Crash; Police ID 4 Dead

A 7-year-old girl survived a plane crash in Kentucky that killed four people Friday night, and the disoriented little girl walked away from the wreckage and reported the crash to a local resident, authorities said. The small Piper PA-34 reported engine trouble and lost contact with air traffic controllers as it was flying over the southwestern part of Kentucky about 5:55 p.m. CST, the FAA said. About a half hour later, a Lyon County resident called 911 and told dispatchers that a 7-year-old girl had walked to his home and said she had been involved in a plane crash, said Sgt. Dean Patterson of the Kentucky State Police. "This girl came out of the wreckage herself and found the closest residence and reported the plane crash," Patterson said. "It's a miracle in a sense that she survived it, but it's tragic that four others didn't." The girl was in emotional distress and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Patterson said. At th...
